Wooden doors have been around for many years and will continue to be around for many more. These types of doors are very sturdy and come in an assortment of different styles. Along with these many styles of wooden door comes many types of locks. 

Here are some of the main types of locks found on wooden doors:

  • Mortice DeadLock – Usually found on front doors in combination with nightlatches. Most insurance companies stipulate that these locks should be five lever or carry a Kite Mark to BS3621.

  • Mortice Latch – Usually found on internal doors.

  • Rim Locks – Usually found on older houses and they can be deadlocks or sash locks.

  • Euro Sashlock – Found on exterior doors, usually back doors or on industrial and commercial units. Has both a deadbolt and a handle operated latch.

  • Rim Night Latch – Usually found on the exterior doors or properties.

  • Yale Nightlatch – Yale Nightlatch locks are a popular choice of front door lock available in BS361 or non-certified for insurance types.

All of these types of locks can be repaired, replaced or upgraded.
